Pass the Bong, Not Your Germs!
It’s second nature for many of us to pass the bowl to the right without even thinking about it. Even easier is to take a hit from the bowl that was passed to us without considering the consequences. With the intensification of our cold and flu season with the unwelcome arrival of COVID-19 or coronavirus, it’s crucial to remain sanitary to prevent the spread of germs and contain the disease.
For many, smoking is a social activity, so extra precautions need to be taken if you decide to continue sharing with your friends. Simply wiping the mouthpiece with your shirt will not cut it. But there’s no need to panic! If you want to enjoy your days in quarantine with loved ones and a little green, there are ways to indulge and still be safe and sanitary. Just make sure you take the following measures during your next smoke sesh!
Utilize Silicone Pieces
Not only can our silicone pipes, bowls and bongs be used for both flower and concentrate, they can be easily taken apart and put right in the dishwasher for extra sanitation. No one likes to have to scrub their piece or wait for the solution to break down all the resin, and honestly, it makes it less likely you’ll clean it at all! Knowing it’s dishwasher safe will encourage you to put your friends and your health first and invest in a product that’s easy to maintain and keep sanitary in these crazy times.
Don’t Forget to Swab
If you decide to take a walk on the wild side and pass the same piece, make sure you at least swab the mouthpiece with an antiseptic solution. Alcohol swabs or wipes can be used for more than just cleaning out a banger or bowl—they’re very effective at quickly killing bacteria and viruses. Just rub it over the mouthpiece after each use for a few seconds.
Opt for Individual Joints or Pieces
Encourage friends to bring their own joint or consider rolling up a few extras to give for extra sanitation. This is ideal since even if you sanitize the mouthpiece between passes or even change the mouthpiece, it’s likely that anyone infected will also have the virus on their hands. Even just touching and passing the piece easily transmits germs, unless you wipe down the entire piece with alcohol swabs.
Or, you can grab one of our bundles so you can always be prepared at the smoke session with multiple pieces. This way, everyone gets his or her own piece and you avoid passing or sharing altogether. Along with keeping your gathering sizes to a minimum, this is ultimately the safest way to socially smoke.
So, wash your hands, practice social distancing, keep everything clean and, last but not least, relax. Don’t panic, but be responsible. Take this downtime as an opportunity to reassess priorities, focus on yourself and let go of anything that’s no longer serving you. Mary Jane is always a welcome ally for times like this, so practice safe sharing and enjoy!
