Set Your 2021 Goals (& Stick to Them!)
Now more than ever, we’re looking forward to a fresh start. If nothing else, the pandemic and other tragic events of the year have taught us to enjoy the little things. We’ve had to sacrifice a lot, and we’ve had to time to reevaluate priorities. After a long year of reflection, it’s the perfect time to set some long-term goals for 2021 that you can really get jazzed about. Your “New Year’s resolution” doesn’t have to be profound—it just has to be attainable.
After itching for productivity and socialization, you’re probably already going into the New Year with a motivated mindset. Use these tips to keep that going strong all year and accomplish whatever goals you set for yourself!
Set Your Routine
Once you determine what you want to accomplish in 2021, start to build your daily routine. Plan out tasks for each day that will get you one step closer to your end goal.
Make sure to include other activities like exercise, cooking, meditating, or other relaxing and enjoyable projects. Even though they may not directly affect your goal, taking time for yourself will allow you to keep your mind clear and focused.
Celebrate Wins
Whatever your resolutions are, make sure to track your success. This can be journaling every day and recording your accomplishments of the day, no matter how small. Or, if you’re working on limiting indulgences like food or even cannabis, taper off with a digital scale. Record the amount every day until, and even after, you reach your goal. It will help you feel in control and will show you that, even if you feel like you’re not making progress, you are!
Nurture Support Systems
2020 gave us time to reflect on our relationships, too. What friends and family members can you really count on? Who will help you achieve your goals no matter what? Work on strengthening these relationships this year. Lean on them for support by expressing your goals to them and letting them keep you accountable.
If quarantine distanced you from some friends, let them know you’re thinking about them. You might even send them a little gift like an Ooze pen to remind them of your good times and get them excited for your reunion!
Keep Moving
Even if getting more exercise isn’t one of your main goals for 2021, it can help motivate you to tackle other activities. Incorporate a walk into your daily routine, or set aside half an hour every day on home gym equipment. To increase motivation, experiment with cannabis as a pre-workout! It can also be great for post-workout recovery and relaxation. Kicking back with a joint feels so much more rewarding after a good sweat!
2020 was an odd year, to say the least, but it’s made us stronger. No matter what 2021 has to offer, we’ll face it together with tenacity and optimism. “New Year’s resolutions” can seem corny, but this year, we all especially deserve to accomplish our goals. Use these tips to stay focused and maintain the priorities you realized this year.
