Tips to Ration Your Stash to Get Through Quarantine
Although COVID-19 began to wreak havoc on the states only a couple months ago, it feels like we’ve been on lockdown for years. Chances are, your stash is looking like it’s been a while, too. Cannabis dispensaries have been deemed "essential" in many legal states, but what if you live in a non-legal state, don’t have a medical card or live far away from the nearest dispensary? If you stocked up before the stay-at-home order began and you still possess the precious and rare bud, we have some tips on how to stretch it even further.
Vape It
Use a dry herb vaporizer like the Drought, which converts your dry cannabis into odorless vapor without burning it. Not only does this tend to be a cleaner way of smoking dry herb, but it also helps you get the most out of your bud. You use less material at a time since it extracts all the good stuff and delivers it in one smooth hit.
Vaping dry herb also naturally provides decarboxylation, which is a process necessary for preparing cannabis for edible consumption. Collect all of the used up, “decarbed” weed you’ve already vaped and make edibles! You’ve just doubled your amount.
Weigh It
Use a digital milligram scale to evenly dose out the rest of your goods. Estimate how many more days you need your current stash to last and weigh out an equal amount of bud for each day. Store your weekly amount in a pill organizer so you don’t go over your allotted amount for the day.
Try the Truweigh Blaze mini scale, which is compact and easy to fit in any stoner kit. The Truweigh Crimson scale is also a good choice for weighing dry herb since it comes with a collapsible silicone bowl. You can just dump your entire stash in and divvy out your amounts from there.
Stash It
Make like a squirrel preparing for winter and hide your bud throughout the house. Especially when we’re all cooped up inside with nothing to do, it can be difficult to refrain from going over your daily amount. Put some in separate containers and hide them in different places. Don’t hide them too well—make a list of the places you’ve stashed it, just in case. You could also put your treasures in inconvenient places like way under the bed or on the highest shelf in the garage.
If you just need a little bit of a safety net and don’t want to go full squirrel-mode, put half your remaining stash in a separate jar, put it away and forget about it. This way you’ll treat your stash like it’s the last you have.
There’s no way of really knowing how much longer this quarantine will last. If you have no easy way of re-upping your personal supply during this time, give these tips a try! You’ll find that you can stretch your bud out a lot further, and hopefully you can make it through the rest of the COVID-19 crisis with Mary Jane by your side. Happy quarantining!
