A good cartridge should give you smooth, flavorful hits from the first pull to the last. But if you've ever had a cart start tasting burnt halfway through, or noticed the vapor getting weaker before the oil's even gone, you know that's not always how it goes. The good news is that most of what shortens a cart's life comes down to a few habits that are easy to fix.
Store it upright
This is this the single biggest thing you can do for cart longevity. Oil is mean to sit over the wick, not pool into the mouthpiece or leak down into the battery connection. Tossing your pen sideways in a bag is convenient, but it's also the fastest way to end up with a clogged cartridge or a leaky connection point. Don't chain hit
Ripping blinker after blinker looks sick for the homies, but when you fire a cart over and over without a break, oil heats faster than it can cool. This leads to that gross burnt taste and a coil that wears out early. Give it a few seconds between pulls. Your cart and battery will thank you.
Watch your voltage
Lower voltage keeps the oil vaporizing at a gentler pace, which protects the wick inside the cart and preserves flavor. Cranking it up might feel like a bigger hit in the moment, but it burns through the cart faster and can scorch the coil permanently. Keep the connection clean
Oil residue on the cart's threading or the battery's connection point is one of the most common reasons a cart starts hitting weak, even when there's still plenty of oil left. A quick wipe with an alcohol swab (an Ooze Resolution Micro Swab works great here) after each session keeps that connection solid. Let it fully dry before you screw the cart back on.
Don't overtighten
It's tempting to crank down on a cart to make sure it's screwed on all the way, but overtightening can actually strip the threading or crack the connection point, both of which shorten its life fast. Snug is enough.
Watch for the signs it's just clogged, not dying

None of this requires much extra affort, just a few small habits built into how you already use your pen. Store it upright, give it breaks, keep the voltage reasonable, and wipe down the connection now and then. Do that, and your cart should get you all the way to empty without any funky flavor along the way.
